Fabrics On The Hill was established in October,
2006 by proprietress Kathryn D. Greer.
Kathryn's passion for sewing can be attributed to her mother, Viola. In
1966, Viola took Kathryn to Stapler's Fabrics in Center City Philadelphia to start a new Mother-Daughter project- Kathryn's
Prom Dress. The clerk at Stapler's splayed the fabric out on the cutting table and as the samples fell before her eyes, her
love of fabrics was born. Kathryn went on to attend Philadelphia College of Textiles and Science while raising her own daughter.
She worked at fabric stores around the Philadelphia area (including 10 years at the former Byrne Fabrics) until
she was offered the opportunity to buy the store. Fabrics On The Hill hopes to instill the same passion that Kathryn has for
sewing in all of her customers. Her store is stocked with unusual and one-of-a-kind fabrics for both garment and quilting.
In 2008, Kathryn welcomed her newly-retired
husband, Paul into the busines. He now teaches a men's quilting class as well as handles the Pfaff embroidery club. He's also
the certified Pfaff technician.
It's truly a family
affair when daughter Katie joins the couple as a part-time clerk. She's also the official IT department.
